Scientists are working on bringing back the woolly mammoth. The giant creature is an ancestor of the Asian elephant. アメリカでは ” A little birdie told me ” といいます。
例文

風の便りに聞いたけど、結婚するんだって？
「a little bird told me」という英語のイディオム、直訳すると「小鳥が教えてくれた」
となりますよね。 この表現は日常でも使われている口語表現の一つな
のですが、「a little bird told me」は「風の便りで聞いたんだけど」
「小耳にはさんだんだけど」という意味です。
「ちょっと聞いたんだけど」と言いたい時に使える英語のイディオムです。
