「 すっぽかす」って英語ではどう言うんでしょうか？

アメリカでは　　”stand someone up ” といいます。

例文

She stood me up on the first date.

最初のデートで彼女にすっぽかされた

「stand up」は「立ち上がる」という意味です。それが過去形「stood up」となると、

「ずっと立たせ続ける・立たされ続ける」ことから「(デートなどの約束を)すっ

ぽかす・すっぽかされる」という意味になります。

「She stood me up.(彼女はぼくとの約束をすっぽかした)」や、とくに受身で

「I got stood up by him.(彼にすっぽかされた)」などと使います。

もちろん単純に「stand up」の過去形として「立ち上がった」の意味の

こともありますから、文脈で判断しましょう。

中2の息子についての相談です。　高校受験で英検準1級、IELTS　5.5以上, TOEFL iBT　70点以上のスコアが必要です。現在は英検準2を受講したばかりです。中3の11月までに上記のレベルまで追いつくためにどのような勉強方法がいいかご相談させてください。

TOEFL iBTはスピーキングとライティングが複合問題（リスニングを含む）となっており、その対策が難しいです。英検準1級はIELTS 5.5を取得した後に受験する方が対策しやすいと思います。英検が基本的に年間3回の受検日と限られるのに比べ、IELTSは何度でも受験可能であることに加え、ライティングとスピーキングが英検よりも範囲が広く難しいため、IELTS 5.5を取得できれば、英検準1級は短期間での対策で合格が可能だと考えます。

英検準2級を受検したばかりとのことではございますが、

現状が英検2級レベル（CEFR B1) でまずはIELTS 5.0 を目指して学習計画をお作り致します。　現状が英検2級に達していない場合で、IELTS学習が難しいようであれば、英検２級を取得してからIELTS対策に進まれても構いません。

「 幼な恋」って英語ではどう言うんでしょうか？

アメリカでは　　”puppy love ” といいます。

例文

My 8 year old daughter has been claiming she’s in love with the boy next door.

It’s just puppy love.

Meaning: Don’t disturb a situation as it is, as it might cause trouble.

●　Every dog has its day : どんな犬にも良い日がある（誰にでも良い時期がある）

Meaning: Everyone will have their moment of glory or success eventually.
Example: “Don’t worry about the promotion. Every dog has its day.”

Meaning: It is difficult to make someone change their habits or ways, especially if they are old.

no strings attached　　無条件で

「 無条件で」って英語ではどう言うんでしょうか？

アメリカでは　　”no strings attached　 ” といいます。

例文

He agreed to lend 3,000 dollars with no strings attached.

彼は無条件で3000ドル私に貸してくれた。

string は紐という意味ですが、この表現では「特別な条件」という意味で使われています。

逆に、with string attached と言われる時もあります。その場合は、

特別な要求や制限ありで、という意味になります。

語源にはいくつかありますが、

一つには、古代、ある男が離婚のために、書類を羊皮紙に書いて妻に渡そうとしたところ、

実は男は妻と別れたくなかったらしく、その書類に紐をつけて渡しました。

紐を引っ張って妻を取り戻すためです。このことから、紐を「条件」の例えとして

用いられるようになったと言われています。
