     go sour    上手くいかなくなる

「    上手くいかなくなる 」って英語ではどう言うんでしょか？

アメリカでは　　”  　go sour ” といいます。

例文

As the dot-com craze went sour, he had hard choices to make. 

ドットコム企業の熱狂が駄目になると、彼は難しい選択をしなければならなかった。

”sour”　は酸っぱいという単語で、”go sour”　は直訳で「すっぱくなる」

となりますが，直訳ではしっくりきません。

実は、食べ物が酸っぱくなる、つまり悪くなったということから、

“sour ” にはネガティブな意味が込められています。

そこから”go sour”  で「まずいことになる，うまくいかなくなる」という意味でも使われます。

日本語で「酸っぱい」を使った表現と言えば「口を酸っぱくして言う」や

「甘酸っぱい」くらいでしょうか。

「    交渉上手 」って英語ではどう言うんでしょか？

アメリカでは　　”  　drive a hard bargain ” といいます。

例文

Josh is known to drive a hard bargain.

Joshは交渉上手で知られてるよ

直訳すれば「厳しい交渉を強引にやり通す」という感じですね。そこから、

「自分に有利にうまく商談を進める」「 交渉上手」と言った意味になります。

bargainは「商談する、交渉して決める」を表す言葉です。

商品の価格や状態、契約内容といった条件について交渉することをいいます。

negotiateと同じ意味で使われますが、bargainは、主に売買における合意といった

金銭的な交渉に対して使われます。そのためbargainには、

「値切る、掛け合う」という意味もあります。

「   口コミ 」って英語ではどう言うんでしょか？

アメリカでは　　”  　word-of-mouth ” といいます。

例文

Our business has grown through word of mouth.

”Word of mouth”　　とは、

「Mouth」＝「口」

「Word」＝「言葉」「コミュニケーション」

つまり、「口コミ」のことです！

書面での伝達ではなく、口頭で何かの情報や出来事を伝えることを表します。

友人や同僚、家族などと、新しいお店や何かしらの出来事を話したりしますよね。

まさにそれが「word of mouth」なのです。
