      hard-sell   押し売り

「   押し売り 」って英語ではどう言うんでしょか？

アメリカでは　　”  hard-sell ” といいます。

例文

He tried the hard sell on me.

彼は私に強引な売り込みをしようとした

”hard sell”　 は、強くプレッシャーをかけて何かを買うように説得する

販売手法のことです。

通信販売などにおけるダイレクトレスポンス広告や、セールスプロモーション

において、割引価格や景品、購入期限などの特典や提供条件をストレートに、

単刀直入に提示し、顧客の合理性に訴え、その広告に対する返信や反応を

即断的、即決的に求める手段をいいます。

比べて、”soft sell” は、あまりプレッシャーはかけず、柔らかく何かを買うように

説得する販売手法のことです。

●　sell off          ：   (安く）売り払う、　下落する

●　sell on         ：   転売する、　納得させる

「  目玉商品 」って英語ではどう言うんでしょか？

アメリカでは　　”     　eye-catcher ” といいます。

例文

So that each desktop is an absolute eye-catcher.

各デスクトップは絶対目玉になるように。

”eye- catcher” とは、各種のデザインにおいて、人の注意を引きつけるための

視覚的要素の総称で、英語で「人目を引くもの」「目玉商品」の意味で使われます。

似たような表現で”click bait” があります。　これは「目を引く」「釣りタイトル」の意味で、

ウェブメディアで時々見かけます。

“bite” は　「（罠にかける）餌」とか「おとり」の意味で、

クリックしてみるとそのタイトルにはそぐわない内容（おとり）でがっかりさせられます。

比べて、”eye- catcher” は、”click bait” よりもやわらかい表現になります。

      cold call　勧誘電話

「  勧誘電話 」って英語ではどう言うんでしょか？

アメリカでは　　”     　cold call ” といいます。

例文

When I just established my business, I did a cold call to find the first customer.

事業を立ち上げたばかりの頃、私は最初のお客様を見つけるために勧誘電話をしました。

“ cold call “ とは、 「商品を売り込む時に、まだその商品やサービスの存在を知らない

新規顧客に接触する」といった意味で使われます。

Cold （冷たい）が意味することは、『冷たいリスト』に営業するというところから来ています。

『冷たいリスト』とは、すわなち『購買意欲がそれほど強くない潜在顧客のリスト』を

表しています。『反応率が低いリスト』とも言えます。

その商品やサービスにある程度興味がある顧客に接触することを、”warm call” 

とも言いますので合わせて覚えておきましょう。

●　social call   :  SNSを通じて企業のブランドを向上し顧客を獲得する

●　close call :  危機一髪

●　distress call　：　救難信号

●　conference call　：　電話会議

「  最新の 」って英語ではどう言うんでしょか？

アメリカでは　　”     　cutting edge ” といいます。

例文

He is using a cutting edge machine.

彼は最新のマシンを使用している。

”cutting-edge”　の語源は、ナイフの刃。edgeには、刃という意味があります。

そこから、「最先端の」という意味になります。

”state of the art”　も「最先端の」という意味で使われますが、

state of the art は、”art”つまり技術や芸術に関して「最先端の」という意味です。

state of the art machine（最先端の機械）

それに比べて、”cutting edge” は、技術や芸術だけでなく、

何にでも使える「最先端の、斬新な」という意味です。

 

「”　edge　”　を使った慣用句・表現」

●　edge away from  :  ～から徐々に遠ざかる、辛勝する、僅差で破る

●　edge back toward : 少しずつ［ジリジリと］～に向かって後退する
